Twelve

Yesterday, July 29th, was the 12 year anniversary of our first date. And oh boy, how I still love that man.

This was taken sometime during that first year that we were dating.  I'm thinking the choir trip toward the end of my senior year.

This was taken just this past month on our recent trip.  We've definitely changed in appearance but he still makes my heart flutter and I look forward to all the rest of the dates in our future.

Trains and Temple Square

Earlier this month, we made a quick trip to Salt Lake, helping Jana move.  After unloading and carrying boxes up the stairs, we headed to the trax station.  We wanted to experience a touristy fun day, so we rode the train downtown.  The kids thought it was great.

We walked everywhere from then on except when we rode the trains again.  Ben's brother Steve and his wife Jessica and their cute boys joined us on our grand adventure.

The weather was perfect for me, cloudy and overcast.  The joy we shared as we walked around the temple grounds was perfect as well.

The kids loved this experience too and we had some great discussions about the temple and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

As we left the new mall across the street from Temple Square it started to rain.  We hopped on another train that took us close to the restaurant we were meeting all the family for a late lunch at.  But the stop was still a couple blocks away and we had to walk in the rain.  That walk was probably my favorite memory of the day.  Some might have thought "oh no" but I just thought "yes! another memory we made".  The kids were laughing and smiling and pretty wet by the time we got there.  The boys gave themselves mo hawks with their wet hair.

I'm so grateful for that day and the time spent with family.  It was nice not having so many plans and being able to just enjoy the little things, like bright orange flowers.

Lancer to Durango

Amid all the hustle and bustle of July, we said good-bye to a dear old friend. This Lancer has been through so much with our family.  We bought him a week before Stryder was born.  He has safely taken all three of my babies home from the hospital.  He survived throw-up in the backseat, a couple bumps and bruises on his bumpers, a 12 hour trip in the snow and countless trips to Utah and California.  Lancer will always be a part of our family's history.

But his size was just getting too cramped and this big girl has been welcomed in.  She's a 2008 Dodge Durango or DD for short.  She seats 7, which is 2 extra and we're praying we get to fill one of those soon.  She came with a built in DVD player and brand new tires.  The kids love all the extra room and their own air vents in back.  I just plain love her and can't wait to start making new memories with her.

New Start and the Start of July

So I figured out a way to deal with my storage issue.  I started a new blog!  Volume 2!  Volume 1 will still be there and have a link to this one and one day I'll get them printed into books and it'll be great but for now I needed more space to share.
So far July has been super busy. The Fourth of July was a great relaxing day which I sadly didn't take any pictures of. A couple days later we went night swimming with glow sticks. The kids loved it and I loved the memory we made together as a family.

I'm headed to Girls Camp next week and then hopefully after that, life will slow down for just a minute.
