Flag Ceremony

We really love living in this small town of Eagle Mountain. We have been able to experience and be a part of so many cool things. The month before Ben moved up here, an officer was killed in the line of duty out in Eagle Mountain. His death really rocked the small community and since then the community had rallied together to show amazing support to his widow and family and all those police officers and firefighters who serve our town. A highway has been renamed in his honor and at the end of last month Stryder participated in a flag ceremony honoring this fallen officer. At the Walmart in Saratoga Springs, the 11-year old scouts retired and replaced the flag. The new one is embroidered with the officers name. His wife was there and stitched the last bit of his name on the flag.
Here is Stryder saluting the old flag as it is being taken down.

This is his troop folding up the old flag. It took a lot of practice over a few weeks but these boys performed their duties amazingly.

This is the new flag getting ready to be raised up.

Soren didn't get to participate in the program and ceremony but he wore his scout shirt to show his support. Those boys of mine sure are handsome.

This was the whole group there. The National Guard was the band and their were police officers and firemen. It was such a neat thing to see and be a part of. I have such respect for those in law enforcement and I'm so grateful for the sacrifices they and their families have to make. What a blessing it is to live in this beautiful free country and be protected by such selfless others.
